A New Home

A New Home

And it Begins

While we were in Big Bear and Sequoias, we closed the deal on our new RV (named Old Dan). We drove out to Phoenix to pick it up with my Uncle Ron. I invited Ron along because he has been driving tractor-trailer since the ’70s. He was a cheap insurance policy to ensure I didn’t mess up too much on my first trip driving 38 feet of steel at 65 miles per hour. According to him, if I were to hit a car on the freeway, I would most likely kill everyone in the car, I should drive accordingly. Mostly, he was a good driving companion for the drive back to San Diego.

When we got to San Diego, we parked in Nicks's driveway for the next two weeks. He installed a 50 amp circuit for me — an early Christmas gift. Pulling in with Old Dan really caused a lot of excitement in Wade and Amelia. They got to check out their new home and decide who got what bunk. Wade won in my book by getting the top bunk.

With us in the driveway, the cousin craziness was in full force. Wade and Charlie rode scooters in circles for hours. Swimming in neighbors pools. We got full use of Nick’s driveway including pandemic haircuts from Nicole.

Since we had an RV now, we needed to fill it with stuff. Amazon should make its quarterly earning based upon our prime account alone. My dad built the kids some shelf for their bunk bed space and Joan helped them paint them. Desiree and I most cleaned and fixed up various little things to get ready to pull out onto the road.
