Visiting Giants: A week in the Sequoia National Forest
Visiting Giants
Not sure how to describe this forest. It is simply overwhelming. Wade and Amelia took to the place. The swimming, hiking, and fun with mom and dad were exactly what they needed after all the extended family time of weeks prior. Be sure to read Amelia’s ‘Oh What a Tree’ poem below.
We stayed in another Airbnb at the top of a mountain with zero (zilch, nada, none) cell coverage. The cabin was Aaron’s dream A-frame with a loft bedroom setup with a king and two twins. Simple and easy living in the middle of nowhere including a turntable for some music. As usual, when going somewhere worth the effort, mountainside road for an hour and a half.
Aaron spent the week learning that Satalight Internet is not something to be trusted. Also the value of old house phones — or what Wade called an Original iPhone.
Desiree mastered her All Trails app to find hikes for the kids. She also sourced a dirt road for Aaron’s favorite past time — getting the Subaru dirty. An epic thunderstorm blew by the cabin one day reminding us what weather can be like after weeks of calm San Diego weather.
