How to Grow a Pod

Out of Quarantine and into our Pod

After spending 2 weeks trying to keep away from everyone, the kids were ready for some social family love. With that, we built our family pod. All being safe and generally removed from everyone else (with a couple of exceptions) we unleashed the cousin love.

These kids have been starved of social interaction and engagement. It really showed as all the cousins could play for hours together each night while the adults relaxed over a couple of drinks.

We got an entire summer of fun into a couple of weeks. Barbeque, pools, back yards, and bouncy house* were all put to good use.

The best parts:

  • Watching Ryan dominate his backyard. There is no wall, screen, or barrier strong enough to contain the youngest Walters.

  • Wade enjoying Uncle Nick’s culdesac with his cousin Charlie doing high-speed scooter runs. “I’m going to totally bomb that hill, Dad”

  • Reagan moving all the rocks in Shaun’s backyard to Nick’s lap.

  • Baily becoming Wade’s BFF (as long as Charlie isn’t around).

  • Amelia trying to walk Lexi but deciding that Hunter is much easier.

  • Alex doing circles on her bike with dad; she finally rode solo just after we left. Way to go Alex.

  • Aaron got a beard trim and a hair cut.

*Shaun’s Bouncy House didn’t make it.
