Maine Take 2: Time to Connect with Nature
Our stay extended a couple of days more, and the mood shifted, from excited to calm. I was able to take a solo drive in the morning, revisiting some places I’d tucked away in my memory that struck a chord in my photographic soul. In the early solitude of those hours just after sunrise I wondered around and let all my senses be aware of the beautiful world surrounding me, and it was wonderful.
It finally warmed up just a couple of degrees, enough for us all to enjoy the pool at the RV park. Don’t get me wrong, it was still a tad chilly, but the kids just don’t care. And there was the old school water slide that provided too much entertainment.
I also took the kids on one last hike, The Jordan Stream and Carriage Road Trail. Its always so great when you find a true woodland trail, one that is fun for the kids. Aside from the beauty of the view of Jordon Pond, the kids really loved walking through the rooted dirt trail, over bridges and planks and trying to catch frogs in the stream. It was a lonely trail, we were the only ones on it for the vast majority of the hike, so I felt like my kids got a little taste of what my morning of solitude in nature felt like.
Now if only we could keep this zen in the RV :)
